Cumberland school board members voted this month to approve The Neal Center YMCA transportation request for 2021 YMCA summer program field trips.

Under the agreement, The Neal Center will reimburse 100% of the fuel cost and the driver's salary to the Cumberland school district.

Board members awarded a bus barn paving project to A&R Mechanical for $103,713. There was some discussion about awarding the work to a company within the school district, but it was noted that there are A&R employees who live in the Cumberland district who will be working on the project.

The Board offered congratulations to Cumberland teacher Amy Carr for receiving the Outstanding Educator Award through the Regional Office of Education, and to Emersen Brading and Charlotte Flessner for receiving the Outstanding Student Award from the Illinois Principals Association.

In personnel moves, the Cumberland board accepted letters of retirement from Gail Wampler and from Margie Comer, as well as a letter of resignation from Colton Booher, who had been hired as a teacher, but then was hired for a teaching and coaching position at Dieterich. The Board also terminated the employment of Patti Sanders, effective immediately.

Board members then posted a number of teaching and support staff positions, and hired Kathleen Conlin as a Special Education teacher.
