A fast-moving storm system visited the Effingham area Thursday afternoon, leaving funnel clouds in many areas and reports of hail in the Watson and Mason areas.

The first report came about 3pm, when Cowden Fire Protection District passed along to Beecher City reports of a storm with strong rotation heading their way. A funnel cloud was spotted aloft west of Effingham High School, west and south of Altamont, and the areas near Edgewood and down near Hord in Clay County. The entire system was through our area in about an hour.

No reports of damage or injury have been received.

Listeners were great to send along photos of the funnel clouds. Here are some of those....

Carolyn captured this great photo of a funnel cloud aloft just south of The Home Center in Altamont. Areas to the south of Effingham remain under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 4:30pm.
