Altamont police have arrested a 19-year-old on a felony charge of burglary at a church.

Altamont Police Chief Alan Heiens said Joshua Burger had gotten into a verbal disagreement with another individual. Police found Burger hiding in an upstairs storage cabinet and had a church-owned item in his pocket.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said Burger was charged with the burglary, which is a Class 1 felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Kibler said Burger has faced other burglary and retail theft counts previously.

Burger is expected to make a court appearance on the count on Monday.
