Mattoon Man Now Faces 30 Counts of Possession of Pornographic Photos or Videos

Another two dozen counts of possession of child pornography, either photos of videos, were filed in Coles County Circuit Court this week against a Mattoon man.

43-year-old Jimmy S. Derixson had been charged with six counts of possession of child pornography in June of 2020, as well as failure to register as a sex offender. The additional charges were filed Thursday. 

A tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted Mattoon police to investigate Derixson. The tip alleged Derixson had uploaded child pornography. A search of Derixson's cell phone revealed images of child pornography.

Derixson is due in court for a status hearing on April 29.
