(TIM LINDSAY AND AROYN BORRIES)

The addition of a partner in ownership of a local business is happening with an eye towards the partner taking over eventual operation of the business.

Lindsay's Prefinishing operates in the Dieterich Industrial Park. It's a business that provides builders with factory-applied painting and staining of millwork prior to installation. After 22 years in business, current owners Tim and Debbie Lindsay were looking forward to retirement. When someone younger with industry experience came along, the Lindsays said it seemed almost meant to be.

Aroyn Borries is a Teutopolis native and 2004 graduate of Teutopolis High School. He left the area after high school to attend the US Military Academy at West Point, then served six years of active duty service in the Army. Borries then worked as a professional engineer in Kansas City for a number of years before becoming a painting and finishing contractor, and now has moved from Kansas City back to Effingham County with his family.

Borries sees a number of benefits to becoming a small business owner through acquisition, among them the accummulation of knowledge during the acquisition. The Lindsays say they see benefits in agreeing to a multi-year ownership transition of a business.
