One driver was fatally injured in a three-vehicle collision during the noon hour Monday at Lake Sara Road and Moccasin Road.

The crash was reported at 12:31pm. Effingham County Sheriff's deputies report a pickup truck driven by 70-year-old Kenneth C. Bonroe of Marion was northbound on Lake Sara Road and traveled through the stop intersection and into the southbound lane. Bonroe's pickup struck a southbound vehicle driven by 49-year-old Emily Arnold of Effingham and another southbound vehicle driven by 18-year-old Shelby Rieman of Effingham. The pickup truck then traveled off the roadway into the ditch, striking the embankment. The impact partially ejected Bonroe, who was not wearing a seat belt, from his vehicle.

Bonroe was airlifted from the scene to Carle Hospital in Urbana. The Champaign County Coroner's office confirmed that Bonroe died from his injuries late Monday night.

Neither of the other drivers was reported as being injured in the crash.

Arnold was cited for driving while her license is revoked.
