Municipal Races in Effingham County Next Tuesday

The spring consolidated election for 2013 is set for next Tuesday, April 9.

Several municipalities in Effingham County will be electing officials.  Altamont and Effingham are in the middle of their four-year terms and will not be electing Council members.

In Beecher City, Renee Schoenfeld is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village President, while independents Denise Childress, Kathy Doty and Jason Wells are the only candidates on the ballot for three trustee seats.  Jessica Christianson is the sole candidate on the ballot for a two-year unexpired term as village trustee.

In Dieterich, incumbent Burl Griffith of the Peoples Party and challenger Brad Hardiek of the Liberty Party are the candidates for Village President.  JoAnn Donaldson of the Peoples Party and Mike Meyer and Mike French of the Liberty Party are the only three candidates on the ballot for three village trustee seats.

In Edgewood, Ronald James Pagel is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village President.  Ervin Yocum is the only person on the ballot for three available trustee seats.

In Montrose, Carolyn Jansen is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village President.  No one is on the ballot for Village Clerk.  Derek Schorman, Eric Esker, William Kingery and Dennis Fletcher are the candidates for three village trustee seats while Lindsey McKinney is a write-in candidate for village trustee.

In Shumway, Linda Moore is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village President.  Derrick Helmbacher is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village Clerk.  Darren Klepzig is the sole candidate on the ballot for three village trustee seats.

In Teutopolis, Greg Hess is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village President after Jerry Weber decided not to seek re-election.  John J. Mette, Greg Oseland and David Tegeler are the three candidates on the ballot for three village trustee seats.

In Watson, Duane Sapp of the Peoples Party is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village President.  Mary J. Beck of the Concerned Citizens Party is the sole candidate on the ballot for Village Clerk.  Colby Higgs, John Flack and Arthur Walker of the Peoples Party are the only three candidates on the ballot for three village trustee seats.

In Mason, Sandy Henderson and Shane Monnet are vying for the Town Mayor position.  Tina Moore is the sole candidate on the ballot for Town Clerk.  Melody Culver is the sole candidate on the ballot for Town Treasurer.  Vivian Cain, Brenda Byers, Donald Flowers and Thomas Kelley are the candidates on the ballot for three town trustee seats.

Polls will be open from 6am to 7pm next Tuesday.  You can also vote absentee ahead of time at the County Clerk's office weekdays between 8am and 4pm.
