A bill being considered in the Illinois General Assembly would make it a violation for people to drive with a pet on their lap.

The exception would be in a commercial or agricultural motor vehicle. Police could not stop a car just because of having a pet on the driver's lap.

However, a 25-dollar fine could be slapped on the offender if another violation occurs.
