After 50 years a portion of the southwest side of Chicago will not be represented by Mike Madigan. This weekend his replacement was named in the 22nd District.

For now, the former Speaker and Representative will remain the Chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois. Madigan says this weekend that he doesn’t feel that he stayed too long and looks back fondly at his decades in the Statehouse.

Madigan’s successor in the House will be Edward Kodatt.
