Only Six New County Cases Reported Friday

The Effingham County Health Department announced six new positive test results Friday. The Fayette County Health Department reported eight new positive cases. Shelby County had 12 new cases. Marion county reported 33 new cases. Coles county reported 20 new cases Friday and also had two deaths, a female in her 80's and a male in his 90's. Those were the only area deaths reported Friday. 

Illinois Region 6 test positivity 7-day rolling average was 5.9% through January 19, and Effingham County came in at 9.6% for the same period.

The County Health Department asks everyone to continue doing their part in reducing the spread of COVID by masking up properly, washing hands regularly, maintaining 6ft social distancing and avoiding large groups.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 7,042 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois on Friday. There were 95 additional deaths in the state.
