6,642 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Illinois Friday

The Illinois Department of Public Health Friday reported 6,642 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 123 additional deaths.

There were COVID-related deaths in area counties, including a male in his 80s in Coles County, a female in her 80s in Jasper County, and a female in her 80s in Shelby County.

There have now been more than 18,000 COVID-related deaths in Illinois since the pandemic began.

As of Thursday night, 3,446 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 712 patients were in the ICU and 386 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
