Teutopolis village board members have finalized agreements with the Illinois Department of Transportation on improvements to US Route 40 through the village.

The project, which has been discussed for several years, involves IDOT upgrading the portion of US 40, or Main Street, that carries the two lanes of traffic through Teutopolis, while the Village will pay for the cost of the parking areas along the roadway. The Village allocated $190,400 in Motor Fuel Tax funds to pay for its share of the project cost.
