New local Congresswoman Mary Miller has apologized for her remark that "Hitler got one thing right" this past week.

The 15th District Republican, who was sworn in last weekend, was speaking to a woman's group outside of the US Capitol on Tuesday. A portion of her remarks were that "Hitler got one thing right, whoever controls the youth controls the future."

Miller Friday released a statement saying in part "I sincerely apologize for any harm my words caused and regret using a reference to one of the most evil dictators in history."

A number of statewide and national Democrats have called on Miller to resign her seat, including Governor Pritzer and US Senator Tammy Duckworth. Several Republican leaders asked Miller to apologize.
