Insurance to cover student athlete accidents may become mandatory for schools across the state.

A senate committee approved the idea earlier this week.  Former Rolling Meadows High School football player Rob Komosa unsuccessfully pushed for the measure for years. He was paralyzed after a 1999 football injury but the school couldn't cover his expenses because it didn't' have the insurance.
