It may seem obvious if you've stuck your head outside any time in the last couple of months, but the drought of 2012 is officially over in Illinois.

It's the first time since last summer's heat damaged corn crops that the state is not in an abnormally dry condition. Half of the country remains in moderate drought or worse and the forecast for the midwest is for a warm, dry spring.

Last summer's drought cut the Illinois corn crop to the lowest level in five years and reduced the soybean crop to its lowest level since 2003.
