Teutopolis Juvenile Arrested at Fresh Start School After Attacking Teachers

A Teutopolis juvenile was arrested following injuries to three teachers at an alternative education facility.

The incident occurred at Fresh Start, a school operated by Eastern Illinois Area Special Education.

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland said three teachers stepped in to break up an altercation between two students. McFarland said one of the students head-butted one of the teachers, slammed another teacher’s head into a wall, and bit and punched a third teacher.

The 14-year-old was taken into custody on three counts of aggravated battery to a teacher.
