Veteran farm broadcaster Rita Frazer was in Effingham Wednesday to speak at the annual Rural-Urban Luncheon sponsored by the Effingham Noon Rotary Club.

Frazer is a host along with Alan Jarand of "RFD Illinois", heard weekday mornings on KJ Country 102.3.

Frazer said with the drought behind us, most producers are optimistic about this year's crop and about growing supplies of livestock.

Rotary holds the Rural-Urban Luncheon to thank members of the agricultural community for their work to feed the world.

Our Greg Sapp spoke with Rita Frazer at Wednesday's event...

Rotarians Julie Stephens and Norbert Soltwedel head the committee that puts together the luncheon each year.

It was announced at the Luncheon that Frazer will be back in Effingham on Friday, April 12 for a live broadcast of "RFD Illinois" from Martin's IGA+ in conjunction with Martin's ongoing 75th anniversary celebration.  The public is invited to attend.  Specials are being planned for the breakfast menu at the Iron Horse Cafeteria for the event.

Jesse Haarmann was the Rotary weekly student guest.  He is a son of Tom and Janet Haarmann and a senior at St. Anthony High School.
