Coronavirus 2020

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Friday reported 13,012 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 126 additional deaths.

The rising statewide positivity rate of 11.5 percent has put all but one of Illinois’ 102 counties at a warning level for the virus.

Public Health Director Doctor Ngozi Ezike urges everyone to be kind to one another and follow the new restrictions.

“I’d ask all of us to have patience and compassion for those we may disagree with and understand this is an extremely difficult time for everyone.  Nobody is getting through unscathed,” said Ezike.

The Effingham County Health Department received notice of fifty-eight new positive test results and announced that the death of a woman in her 60s was under investigation.

The Shelby County Health Department announced Friday twenty-five county residents have tested positive for Covid-19. Coles County Health Department reported 29 additional laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases and one death. There are 84 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Fayette County. The Marion County Health Department reported 74 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

The Clay County Health Department reported 46 new cases on Thursday.
