In Effingham County to date, there have been 13,724 people tested for COVID. There have 12,626 negative cases, 1,098 positive cases, 851 people recovered, and 242 people in isolation. There was a death attributed to COVID early in the pandemic, one person who died with other causes involved who also had COVID, and three deaths that are being investigated as to whether COVID was the cause of death.

In addition to the new cases, Public Health also reported three deaths related to COVID in area counties. The deaths are those of a female in her 50s and a female in her 80s in Clay County, and a male in his 80s in Fayette County.
