Courtney Yockey was welcomed Friday as the new president of the Effingham Regional Growth Alliance.

A lunchtime reception was held at Koerner Distributor to welcome Yockey, who takes over as president of the Alliance after a seven-year stint at Richland County Development Corporation in Olney.

Yockey has just been on the job in Effingham County for a week, so he is busy gathering information on the area's economy and meeting business and government leaders.

Yockey is no stranger to Effingham, as his mother's family are natives of this area.

Bob Bray has served as interim leader of the Alliance since Craig Nielsen's departure over a year ago. Members of the Alliance took time to review goals of the organization before proceeding with hiring a new president.

Yockey's headquarters are located in the offices of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce on Keller Drive in Effingham.
