Authorities are Checking on Local Death

Local authorities are checking on a death that occurred Monday morning.

Dead is 32-year-old Dylan Gordon of Effingham. Effingham City Police responded to a welfare check just after 11:30am Monday at Lakepointe Apartments on the northwest side of town. Officers found Gordon dead in his apartment.

The Effingham County Coroner's Office was called to the scene, along with the Effingham Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit.

An autopsy on Gordon will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Medical records were requested and toxicology samples will be sent to the lab for analysis. The incident remains under investigation by the Effingham City Police Investigations Unit and the Effingham County Coroner's Office.
