North Clay school board members Wednesday held discussion on awarding a contract for heating, ventilating and air conditioning work as well as hot water updates at the high school building. The proposal is to utilize school maintenance grant funds.

There was only discussion of the issue; no vote.

The Board heard that the District is participating in the USDA Free Meals for All program. All students in Grades K-12 are eligible for free breakfast, second chance breakfast and lunch meals through the end of December. Remote learning students are also participating in a free meal pickup each Monday and Thursday.

Board members heard that the North Clay FFA virtual horse judging team placed fourth in the Section 23 contest, with member Sierra Payne placing in the Top 10. Also, Kadie Pierson finished second overall in the Joliet Junior College virtual Livestock Judging contest.

The Board approved their teacher and administrator salary and benefits report for posting on the District website; adopted several policy updates; and voted to seek bids on buses.

Board members approved a leave of absence for Avery Williams; renewed a contract with Melissa Semple for the school year; approved Mitchell Martin as a volunteer assistant coach for high school boys basketball; hired Laith Harrington as high school evening custodian; and hired Jessica Percival as sophomore class sponsor for the school year.
