Teutopolis school board members Monday got good news on the progress being made on the Teutopolis High School renovation project.

Teutopolis Superintendetn Matt Sturgeon reported that as of this month, four rooms involved in the project have been opened for classroom use. Those include the Band room, the CAD room, the Shop area, and the Welding lab.

Sturgeon added that, by the end of this week, the west side of J.H. Griffin Gym will be opened, including the renovated public restrooms.

He added that, by the end of November, the locker rooms should be completed, as well as the counselor spaces, and the corridor connecting the main body of the high school building with the gym.

Sturgeon noted that by that time, the Winter sports season will be getting underway and said the district has every intention of being ready to participate.

The Teutopolis board also learned that a Teacher's Institute that would ordinarily have taken place in Pana, will instead take place remotely with the Paris Unit #95 District. Sturgeon said taking pandemic conditions into consideration, the Paris offer is very welcome and thanked Paris Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Larson for his work to facilitate participation by the Teutopolis district.

Also Monday, the Teutopolis board:

--accepted the audit of the past fiscal year's books

--approved the Administrator and Teacher Salary and Compensation Report for posting on the District website

--approved policy changes for first reading

--agreed to seek bids on a new pre-school bus

--passed the budget for the new fiscal year

--authorized the increase of Teacher Aide Amy Thoele's paraprofessional hours to average not more than 5.5 hours per day
