A Salem Grade School kindergarten teacher has been charged with two counts of permitting alcohol consumption by a minor during a party at her home.

The allegations are that about a dozen high school students gathered at Wendy Bunnell's home on March 2 after being invited there by Bunnell's child and that students brought the liquor with them.  Those in attendance allege that Bunnell was under the influence at the time.

If found guilty, Bunnell could be fined and receive up to one year in jail.

There are also allegations that Bunnell and a 17-year-old at the party had an alleged consensual sexual encounter during the party.  Marion County prosecutors say no charges can be brought over the sexual encounter as state law considers the 17-year-old an adult able to give consent.

Information on the incidents has been turned over to Salem school officials.
