The case of an Altamont man may be headed for Problem Solving Court or Veterans Court.

28-year-old Ryan Beccue was arrested last September after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. The eastern part of Altamont was impacted by the standoff. A bus taking students to an event at Altamont Community High School was rerouted to Altamont Grade School and an event at Immanuel Lutheran Church was also affected until authorities were certain of Beccue's whereabouts.

Effingham County Public Defender Scott Schmidt told Judge Amanda Ade-Harlow Thursday that the matter had been referred to Problem Solving Court or Veterans Court, but said the process "broke down". Schmidt said he will attempt to restore the process. Prosecutors are in support of the effort, as well.

Problem Solving Court and Veterans Court are available when there are circumstances unique to a defendant and their case.
