Vehicle Recovered in Mt. Vernon Tied to Olney Murder Suspect

A vehicle has been recovered in Mt. Vernon believed to have been used by a suspect in a fatal shooting in Olney over the weekend.

18-year-old Rick Meador is being sought in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old Kyle Johnson of Olney. Johnson suffered several gunshot wounds and later died at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page said the car was located parked along North 9th Street when located just after 2:30pm Sunday.

Meador is a white male, 5'11", 155 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. He was reportedly accompanied by a juvenile female.

An arrest warrant for First-Degree Murder was issued Tuesday through the office of Richland County State’s Attorney Charles Bradley Vaughn for Meador.

ISP DCI Zone 8 officials caution the public – Do not approach Meador as he is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Meador should call law enforcement immediately.
