Two Day Total of 42 Cases of Covid for Effingham County

Over the past two days, the Effingham County Health Department received notice of 42 new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

The County Health Department is still investigating whether these individuals have had contact with known COVID positive cases while all 42 are in isolation.

The report indicates the increase in positive cases in our area relates to large social gatherings and group activities with no social distancing or masking. Health department officials urge the community to follow safety guidelines to reduce the number of cases so schools and businesses can remain open. This includes wearing face masks in public, frequently washing your hands, practicing social distancing, and avoiding large gatherings.
