Effingham City Plan Commission members Tuesday approved a site plan for a new Sarah Bush Lincoln Bonutti Clinic facility.

The two-story, 65,879 square foot facility will be located immediately east of the current facility, which will be demolished to make room for parking. Work on the $35 million project is to begin later this year. The facility will accommodate services now offered in the current Bonutti Clinic as well as other Sarah Bush Lincoln facilities in Effingham. Surgeries will still be performed at the Effingham Ambulatory Surgery Center and at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The Plan Commission also recommended the City Council vacate an alley on the St. Anthony Rectory property. A new rectory is under construction. A utility easement will be retained on the property.

There was discussion of how to regulate front yard fences. Commisisoners rejected the idea of requiring permits for the fences. A public hearing will be held once the idea is ready to be finalized.
