26 New Positive COVID-19 Cases in Three Days

The Effingham County Health Department Monday reported 26 new positive COVID-19 cases over the three-day period ending Monday.

The cases involving known contact with COVID positive individuals include a female in her teens, two males in their teens, a female in her 20s, two males in their 20s, a male in his 30s, two females in their 40s, two males in their 40s, two females in their 50s, three males in their 50s, two females in their 60s, and a male in his 60s. 

Two females in their 20s, a male in his 20s, two females in their 30s, and two males in their 40s reported no known contact with a positive case.

Also Monday, there were just two additional death related to COVID-19 in the state, but those were area residents, a woman in her 90s from Cumberland County and a Coles County resident.

Shelby County Health Department reported four new positive COVID cases. The individuals are a 47-year-old male, a 57-year-old male, an 11-year-old male, and a 36-year-old female. Three of the individuals are reporting mild symptoms, and one is asymptomatic. That brings the number of positive cases in Shelby County to 83.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate is 4.1%.
