Bailey and Pritzker 2020

The hearing involving the Darren Bailey vs J.B. Pritzker case is scheduled for 1pm today in US District Court in East St. Louis.

Two items are scheduled to be considered before Magistrate Judge Gilbert C. Sison. One is Bailey's request to have the case remanded back to Circuit Court, the other is Bailey's request to have the matter expedited.

The Illinois Attorney General's Office had the matter moved from Clay County Circuit Court to Federal court. Bailey filed for an emergency order to have the matter reassigned to Circuit court.

The US Justice Department has intervened in the lawsuit, filing a statement of interest supporting the lawsuit filed by Bailey. The suit challenges some of Pritzker's actions in response to the pandemic. The Department is also challenging the moving of Bailey's lawsuit to federal court and asserts Pritzker is acting in violation of Illinois law.
