Area Teens Injured in Late Morning Crash

Two area teans where injured when a car colided with a semi on the Dieterich Blacktop just before noon Saturday.

State Police report at 11:48 a.m. a car driven by a 16-year-old female of Toledo was traveling eastbound on Effingham County Road 1400th Avenue approaching 2300th Street, also known as the Dietrich Blacktop. The car failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of 1400th Avenue and 2300th Street and struck a semi operated by Milton L. Oesch, 44 of Calhoun, Illinois. 

Oesch was not injured in the accident. The driver of the car was transported to local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger in the car, Roddnie C. Deters, 19 of Teutopolis, was airlifted to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Charges are pending as the accident remains under investigation.
