Personnel Matters Dominate Brownstown Board Meeting

Brownstown school board members Monday hired Martin Son as the elementary school principal for the 2020-2021 school year.

Son will succeed Sherry Harmon, who is leaving Brownstown to become elementary principal at Teutopolis.

The Board also hired Bayle Ring as district cook; Brittany Coomer as a 4th grade teacher; and Kelsey Newcomb as a 5th grade teacher.

In addition to Harmon's resignation, the Board accepted the resignation of Amy Disch as a 4th grade teacher as of the end of the school year.

Board members discussed the budget for the current school year, as well as the budget for the coming year. The Board renewed membership in the Illinois Elementary School Association, and okayed revised board policies for first reading with adoption expected at the May meeting.
