State-run outdoor sites are closed to the public until further notice but, for those itching to get out to fish or hunt, there is an option.

If you know someone with a pond or private property who may have seasonal mushrooms on their land, those can still be hunted on and their ponds fished.

Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police Sergeant John Williamson reminded there are also some federal sites in Illinois you can still utilize. That includes US Corps of Engineers properties at Lake Shelbyville.

The Department has seen isolated incidents of false information circulating social media posing as though it is coming from DNR. Williamson indicated the best place to find accurate information is at their website, dnr.illinois.gov.

St. Rep. Blaine Wilhour said the DNR website will have the latest on hunting, fishing and historic sites and museums, as well as programs and materials for students and teachers, and you can purchase your hunting and fishing licenses online. For licenses, go to www.il.wildlifelicense.com.
