Durbin Said Senate Worked Quickly on $2 Trillion Aid Package

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill wrestled over the final details of a giant $2 trillion economic stimulus bill.

The US Senate wrangled on both sides, Republican and Democrat, over the massive amount of money and just how and where it gets divided up.

Key points are checks for adults and children. Billions are also involved for industries ravaged by social distancing and stay-at-home orders, as well as states that are spending to fight off the virus.

As the final details were hammered out, Illinois US Senator Dick Durbin says the bill was crafted at light speed for a group that is usually accustomed to taking its time, finalizing a package in seven days rather than a year that it might usually take.

The vote was 99-0 in favor of the package. The House is expected to vote on the measure on Friday.
