Members of the Dieterich American Legion Post #628 attended the recent meeting of the Dieterich Village Board. They were on hand to donate $500 for upkeep of the Dieterich Veterans Memorial at Liberty Memorial Park.

The money represented the proceeds from the sale of calendars produced by Wortman Printing of Effingham. The calendar features a different area memorial each month. The Legionaires in those communities helped sell the calendars and got to decide how to utilize their proceeds from the project.

In regular business, the Dieterich board approved the installation of new two-inch water meters at Dieterich schools. The meters cost $1,250 each. Board members also awarded a bid for removal of a building foundation at 113 South Main Street. Effingham Asphalt was the low bidder at $2,950.

The Board also submitted a list of FEMA mitigation projects in hopes of receiving Federal funds to finance the work. Also, draft covenants and restrictions for the new Dieterich Industrial Park East were submitted to Village Attorney Tracy Willenborg for final review before adoption of the guidelines.

Board members also met in closed session to discuss a land purchase and a land sale, but there was no action in open session on the items.
