City police today released details on a crash that occurred last Thursday.

The crash happened at 10:30am at 1315 Althoff Drive near the Legacy building. Police report that a car driven by 73-year-old Vera Koester of Teutopolis hydroplaned, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike and damage an AmerenIllinois utility pole.

The impact caused Koester's vehicle to then strike a parked vehicle owned by Kathleen Thomas of Effingham.

Koester was injured, but refused treatment.

Koester was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

The damage to the power pole caused an electrical interruption to the surrounding area for sometime Thursday.
