Area firefighters were out early Tuesday morning due to a fire that destroyed a mobile home in Wheeler.

Dieterich Fire Chief Ross Martin said Dieterich and Wade Fire Protection District firefighters were called out at 12:50am to the mobile home. Martin said the occupants of the mobile home were able to get out, although one of the occupants was injured. No names of the occupants of the mobile home are being released yet.

No word yet on the cause of the fire, but the mobile home was a total loss. Dieterich and Wade departments were assisted at the scene by Montrose, Teutopolis and Watson firefighters, while Altamont, Edgewood Bi-County and Teutopolis firefighters staffed the Dieterich station. Jasper EMS also assisted at the scene and the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office has been contacted to investigate the scene in hopes of determining the cause of the fire.

Martin is estimating the value of the damage done at between $50,000 and $60,000. Firefighters finally cleared the scene at 5am.
