Reports on Two Crashes w/Injuries on Thursday

Effingham city police have released details on two crashes on Thursday that involved injuries.

One crash occurred at 1:46pm at Maple and Jefferson. Police report a vehicle driven by 89-year-old Emil Beals of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 69-year-old David Thies of Shumway. Beals' vehicle then left the roadway and struck and damaged a City-owned street sign. 

A passenger in Beals' vehicle, 85-year-old Earna Beals of Effingham, was injured and was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued.

The other crash occurred at 12:55pm at 4th and Fayette. Police report a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Travis Walk of Sigel struck a vehicle driven by 72-year-old Michael Meyer of Effingham, causing Meyer's vehicle to overturn. 

Meyer was injured and was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony's. 

Walk was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
