Former Donnelley Plant in Mattoon to Close

LSC Communications, Inc. has announced plans to close its Mattoon plant as well as manufacturing facilities in Virginia and Kentucky. LSC Communications in Mattoon was formerly known as RR Donnelley Company.

A release from the company indicates they continue "to focus on manufacturing footprint optimization to align with industry trends."

The closing of the three plants is expected to be completed by July of this year.

LSC's Chairman Thomas Quinlan III said that with decisions by many print titles to move to a fully digital platform, the company has to align their platform with these industry trends.

Since a proposed merger with Quad Graphics in July 2019 was terminated, LSC Communications, including today's announcement, will have closed a total of eight facilities and reduced its workforce by approximately 2,500 employees.
