Shooting at Local Business Believed to Have Been Accidental

Authorities believe a shooting that occurred at a local business was an accident.

Effingham city police were called to Boos Outlet Showroom at 1703 Avenue of Mid America just after 2pm Saturday due to a report of an employee who had been shot. Officers secured the scene and rendered aid to the person shot. The wounded person is a 61-year-old man from Toledo. His name has not been released. The man was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment.

After a preliminary investigation, Effingham police detectives have determined that the shooting appears to be accidental in nature. The case has been turned over to Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler for review.

The investigation is still pending.
