Dive Teams Called Into Action Friday Night

Shelby and Effingham County Dive Teams worked together to rescue a woman from floodwaters Friday Night.

Effingham County Dive Team Captain Terry Trueblood informed us that the teams were called to the area known as the Sigel Bottoms at approximately 5:30 Friday as a woman was trapped in her car due to the rising floodwaters. 

Trueblood said, "the rescue went as well as it could as the woman was retrieved uninjured, just cold and wet." 

Trueblood asks that if possible stay home, but if you must travel allow extra time and remember that it only takes a few inches of water to move a car off the roadway and it may take a while for responders to reach you if you are in a dangerous situation. Remember, turn around, don't drown.
