Details Released on Crash on South End Earlier This Month

Effingham City Police Thursday released details on a crash on the southeast side of town that occurred the morning of January 3.

The crash happened just after 8:30am at 1108 South Willow. Police report a semi driven by 29-year-old Duane Lewis of Florissant, Missouri rear-ended a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Sandy Woodward of Robinson.

Woodward was injured and was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Lewis was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

Teutopolis school board members voted at a special meeting earlier this week to seek a school maintenance grant. The grant is administered by the Illinois State Board of Education.

No action was taken at the meeting, held on Monday night.
