Brown to Become Sheriff's Deputy

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department has announced the recent graduation of Rob Brown of Watson from the 560-Hour Basic Training course for local law enforcement officers at the Illinois State Police Training Academy.

Brown was hired on August 9, and started his Academy training on August 18. He was chosen as President of his Academy class in Springfield and won the Physical Fitness Award for his Recruit class.

Brown is a 2004 graduate of Millikin University in Decatur with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science. He is also the co-owner and fitness trainer of The Zone in Effingham. He was the Head Track and Field Coach for St. Anthony Schools in Effingham from 2012 to 2014.

Upon completion of a 12-week field training program with the Sheriff's Department, Deputy Brown will assume duties as a Patrol Deputy with the Effingham County Sheriff's Department. 

Brown and his wife, Lela, and their three children reside in Watson.
