Effingham Park Board commissioners discussed the sale of bonds at this week's meeting.

The bonds would be designed to generate up to $625,000 in revenue. The proceeds would be used to make the $490,000 annual payment on the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex, with the balance paying for several projects.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff said a major project is to complete work on the baseball diamond at Evergreen Hollow Park. That work will include new outfield fencing and work on the scoreboard. Althoff said entrance signs to the various parks need upgrading, and said crack repair and repainting work on the tennis courts at Evergreen Hollow is on the list.

The bond issue is up from the $550,000 in bonds sold in past years. The District typically uses property tax revenue received later in the year to pay off the bonds.

The Park Board also annexed three properties into the district, those being Golden Fields Subdivision, a property on Mini Hills Drive, and a parcel near Petro Stopping Center.

Discussion of the possibility of locating a cell tower on Park District property was delayed.
