Both Drivers Injured in Crash on Moccasin Road

Both drivers were injured in a crash during the noon hour Friday on Moccasin Road.

Vehicles involved, both pickup trucks, were driven by 20-year-old Devon Morlan of St. Elmo and 51-year-old Ross Cornett of Altamont.

Illinois State Police report Morlan's vehicle was westbound near 600th Road, west of Lake Sara, while Cornett's vehicle was eastbound. Heavy smoke from a hay bale fire was across both lanes of the roadway, resulting in limited visibility for both drivers. The vehicles collided head-on.

Both drivers were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham; Morlan by private vehicle, Cornett by ambulance.

No citations were issued.
