A psychologist has been appointed to examine the arson suspect in the fire at an apartment building in Effingham.

26-year-old Joseph Wrischnik of Effingham was taken into custody at the scene of the fire along South 4th Street on November 11. At his initial court hearing, Judge Allan Lolie noted Wrischnik's conduct and indicated "a likely fitness motion" would be appropriate.

During a hearing this week, Judge James Eder approved the appointment of a psychologist to examine Wrischnik.

The case is due back in court on December 10 for a status hearing.
