A St. Elmo woman was injured in a crash just after 1pm Friday.

The crash happened on 300th Street, a quarter-mile north of 700th Avenue in Mound Township.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a car driven by 39-year-old Treva Rupinski ran into the trailer of a unit being driven by 55-year-old Fernando Avalos of New Buren, New York. Deputies say Avalos was stopped on the roadway, picking up caution signs, and the yellow warning lights on Avalos' vehicle were turned on.

Rupinski was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Rupinski was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
