ECCCMA Announces Old Settlers Winners

The Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum Association has announced the award winners at the 2019 Effingham County Old Settlers Reunion.

The winners are:

Oldest Female Old Settler--94-year-old Gert Harris

Oldest Male Old Settler--95-year-old John Kirby

Longest Married Couple--Charlie and Gert Harris, married 74 years

Youngest Female Old Settler--30-year-old Lisa Huston

Youngest Male Old Settler--56-year-old Jim Mayhood

The "Whose Hat is That" Contest winner was Bertha Walls. She correctly answered the question: Which nursing cap is from a Chicago School of Nursing? 47 people entered the contest. 13% correctly guessed it was from Chicago's Mercy Hospital; 51% guessed it was the Decatur School of Nursing cap; 19% guessed it was the Lakeview School of Nursing cap; and 15% guessed it was the St. Anthony of Terre Haute School of Nursing cap. Walls won a $50 Niemerg's gift card.
