(MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS CHIEF CHEERLEADER MIKE YAGER CONVERSES WITH A GUEST AT CORVETTE FUNFEST)

The 26th annual Mid America Corvette Funfest will be one to remember for Mid America's Chief Cheerleader Mike Yager.

That's because Mike is soon to celebrate his 70th birthday, and his hometown is helping him celebrate.

The Fun Run Road Tour held as part of the Funfest each year had a different destination Thursday evening; Yager's hometown of Newton. The county courthouse square is decorated with 25 special Corvettes and a thousand cupcakes are available to those attending the celebration. The ceremonies headed by Newton Mayor Mark Bolander are to begin at 6:00 tonight.

The balance of the weekend, though, will be celebrated at Mid America's corporate headquarters on North US 45 on the north edge of Effingham. Corvette fanciers from around the globe are in Effingham for this year's celebration; for fellowship, for showing off their vehicles, and to help Yager celebrate his milestone birthday.

The Saturday night entertainment will be highlighted by the Beatles' tribute band "The Return" at 8pm. Admission is $10/person and payable at the gate. There is also the 3rd Annual Corvette Funfest Light Show at Tuscan Hills Winery at 8pm Friday.

A variety of experts will share about Corvettes and other topics. All of the seminars will be held in air conditioned indoor facilities this year.

The 2019 Funfest will conclude at 10:30am Sunday with the St. Anthony Corvette Raffle Drawing.

All of the activities at Funfest are also open to the general public as Mike and Laurie Yager annually open the event for their customers to the Effingham area.
