Singers high school age and older are invited to participate in the Greenville Choral Union’s 89th anniversary season, including the 89th performance of George Frideric Handel’s oratorio "Messiah". Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 24, at 7 p.m. in the Whitlock Music Center on the Greenville University campus.

The 110-voice Choral Union and 30-piece orchestra will perform selections from all three parts of Messiah Sunday, December 8 at 4 p.m. The performance will include the premiere of a newly commissioned musical setting by Illinois composer Andrew Bruhn of the hymn “Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder” written by John Newton, author of “Amazing Grace.”

In addition to local singers and instrumentalists, and orchestral musicians from the St. Louis area, this year’s presentation will feature four Illinois-born professional vocal soloists: Caitlin Hadeler of Edwardsville, Christina Kruger of Freeport, Thomas Taylor of Litchfield, and Ian Murrell of Vandalia.
